    I'd say it's not a true brown nor a "black" finish. Darkish brown that has a rubbed finish so it is not a solid black or brown. Rustic.

    I have two of these and absolutely LOVE them! Yes, they can be anchored to the wall and those are included in the hardware to do so!

    We anchored it to the wall. It is VERY necessary if you have small kids that might try to climb it! It may be more steady sitting on wood floor vs. carpet...but I would anchor it anyway. Jan F. April 11, 2017

    The space between the shelves varies a little bit. There are 5 shelves. Top to bottom are labeled 1 thru 5. I measured 14 3/8 inches between the 2nd and 3rd shelf (open space). Same with the distance between shelves 3 and 4. The distance between shelf 1 and 2 is a little bigger at 14 3/4 inches. This is the same distance that exists between shelves 4 and 5. Of course, your shelves could possibly measure a little different, but I can only assume that yours would be pretty close to what I have.

    I don't believe there is but it would look good with what ever you decided on I am sure, I have black distressed tables in my great room, beige sofa and chairs with nail heads, a wine barrel to set around with bar stools and a steel sign it all looks great together.

    i would call it "gun metal" . It is not black but not brown either. Somewhere in the middle. It is very attractive and goes well with a variety of settings.

    hello there. yes it is VERY sturdy and it looks awesome. I am a current ultrasound tech student and a former nursing student and I have all my books there plus a printer and other storage boxes, no bending at all. this is one of my favorite purchases! highly recommend!

    Yes. it is very sturdy. I have over 100 albums on one shelf alone and it supports them just fine. If the unit is top heavy, however, you will want to anchor it to the wall with a safety strap so it wont tip over.

    I stack lots of books on this. Because I want my books at eye length, they take the top two shelves. The bottom two holds lighter stuff, as well as magazines. I was afraid this might render the bookshelf unstable, but it is just fine! Looks sleek, easy to assemble and we love it. Once assembled, it does not look cheap at all.

    Yes, it is natural wood. There appears to be a slight finish on it that might need sanded prior to staining, but other than that it shouldn't be a problem.

    Unfinished wood. If you wanted, you could use a polyurethane or oiled finish. I like them as they are, but I'm very careful not to put anything on them that would stain--such as water or perfume.

    the shelves look like they have a light stain on them but they are not glossy or "finished" in any way. So It is pretty much raw wood, which has been nicely sanded and stained. They will take a beating and won't scratch, unless you drag something sharp over them.

    You could leave one of the shelves off...but it might look weird. There are pre installed prongs (I guess you would call them?) For where the screws and shelving go. Also, the shelves themselves are not that sturdy. They may not hold a tv! I would just use it for decorative objects, etc. Hope this helped! Regards, Ashley
